PRESERVING THE RICH EQUESTRIAN HISTORY OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO AND FACILITATING EQUESTRIAN CULTURE FOR THE FUTURE.
The San Juan Capistrano Equestrian Coalition (SJCEC)’s purpose is to educate the public on the positive benefits of living and working in an equestrian community. We support equestrians in San Juan Capistrano by providing educational workshops, funding equine safety measures for the community, and supporting equestrian use and access areas.
San Juan Capistrano has a rich history of equestrian use and has more horses per capita than any other city in California. The Annual Swallow’s Day Parade is the largest non-motorized parade in the United States. Equestrians travel from throughout the western US to participate in this parade. We are also home to the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park which hosts International Level Equestrian Competition and the Richest One-Day Rodeo in the World. Youth programs like the United States Pony Club service the local youth and over 1500 horses call San Juan Capsitrano home. Our mission is to assist all types of equestrians in their endeavors and to preserve these traditions for generations to come.
